Frequently Asked Questions

These are just some of the questions we get asked on a regular basis. If you don't find your answer here, then please feel free to contact us.

Are there any spaces left on this course?

To see if there's any spaces left on a course or workshop, visit our classes page and click on the one you're interested in. Scroll down to our online booking form, which will display how many spaces are left on the course. If there are no spaces left you'll be given the option to add yourself to the waitlist.

Do I Need My Own Sewing Machine?

Students are not required to bring their own machines to class, but are welcome to do so if they wish. The Stitchery has eight CXL301 machines available for student use, which is enough for even our biggest classes. We also sell a range of Janome sewing machines and offer discounted prices to all our students.

If you're planning on bringing your own machine, please contact us and let us know the make and model.

How can I pay for my course or workshop?

You can find our online booking form on each of the classes pages. Here you can book and pay for your place online. You can book with a £10 deposit or choose to pay the full course fees up front. Payments are processed by Paypal and you'll be given the choice to pay either with your Paypal account or by credit/debit card.

How Can I Pay my Balance?

If you've booked your course by paying a deposit, you can pay your balance anytime. Just visit our balance payment page for some options on how to do this.

What is Your Cancellation & Refund Policy?

Non-Refundable Deposit

All of our courses and workshops require a Deposit to book your place. The cost of the Deposit may vary, but it will be stated on the online course literature or booking page. Please note that the Deposit is completely non-refundable. If you pay the full course fee at the time of booking, the Deposit portion of that fee is retained as your non-refundable deposit.

Cancellation & Course Fees Refund

If you cancel your booking 14 or more full days before the start date of your course or workshop, you will be refunded the balance of your fees. This is equivalent to your full course fees minus your non-refundable Deposit.

If you cancel within 14 days of the start date of the course/workshop, a refund will only be issued if a replacement student can be found to take your place.

If you decide to cancel your place once the course has started, a refund is not guaranteed. In this situation we shall review the circumstances of the cancellation before deciding on appropriate solution.

Private Tuition

Private Tuition fees must paid at least 24 hours before the lesson begins. If a block of lessons have been booked, then the full fees for the whole block must be paid 24 hours in advance of the first lesson.

If a lesson is not paid for 24 hours before it is due to begin, or a block of lessons is not paid for 24 hours before the first lesson commences, we reserve the right to cancel this booking and replace it with another.

If a student wishes to reschedule a private lesson, notice must be given by the student at least 24 hours before the lesson is due to commence, otherwise they will be charged for this lesson.
