Now that we're in our lovely new studio, it's time to start making it feel like home. And what better way than with a handmade cushion or two; which gives us the perfect excuse for a brand new Sewalong!
In the next few weeks we will be guiding you through the steps to make your own wonderful cushion, complete with a zipper closure. So whether you have a new home to decorate, an old sofa that needs brightening up, or a long list of friends to make Christmas presents for, this Sewalong will provide you with the inspiration you need. And for anyone who FEARS THE ZIP...let's face it there are lots of you zip-phobics out there.....now is the time to tackle those demons. Zips don't bite. I promise.
We'll kick off this Friday, 21st November - so fabric to hand, feet on pedals and lets get ready to sew up a storm of fabulous winter cushions. We'll also take a look at how you can make your cushion extra special by adding some embellishments using machine applique. So if you've mastered the basic cushion, now is the time to flex your creative muscles and start personalising...
The Sewalong will finish on December the 12th, so it's the perfect opportunity to make a bespoke Christmas present for someone special.
A prize too!
And, if you need any more motivation to get stitching, we will have a brilliant selection of sewing goodies from The Stitchery haberdashery shop as a prize for the lucky winner.
The winner's bag of sewing swag will contain:
- The Colette 'Zinnia' pattern - perfect for giving our last Sewalong a go!
- Tilly and the Buttons 'MIETTE' wrap skirt pattern - Tilly's patterns are the latest addition to our range. Also, look out for our MIETTE Skirt Course (see classes page), where you can join us in the studio for a 'live' sewalong.
- Fiskars Classic, 21cm fabric shears
- Prym Seam Ripper
- Prym Sewing Guage
- Prym Fabric Crayon set
- Spool of Christmassy red ribbon
What's that I hear your cry? "Lovely new cushions, a few presents ticked off my Christmas pressie list, pesky zippers overcome and the chance of prize to boot? I'm in!" Well indeed, you'd be a fool not to.
Let's meet up again this Friday, when I'll introduce the Sewalong in more detail and share some ideas to get your sewing fingers all a-tingling with creative anticipation...!
